Biography

Brett Weeks
Pastor/Lead Planter

Family: Brett and his wife, Andrea, were married in November 1994 in Hinesville, Georgia. They have three beautiful children:           Brittany (10 yrs), Brandon (9 yrs), and Samantha (7 yrs). The Weeks family enjoys sports such as fishing, boating, shooting,           hunting, and baseball. They also enjoy music, reading, and learning. They love Jesus Christ and desire to serve Him           together.

Education: Brett has earned a Bachelors of Science in Religion with a Biblical Greek minor from Liberty University, a Masters of           Arts in Religion from Liberty Theological Seminary, and will finish a Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Biblical           languages and Old Testament from Liberty Theological Seminary in December 2007. He also plans on pursuing a           Doctorate of Philosophy in Biblical Theology in the near future.

Experience: Brett has served as a Sunday School teacher, worship leader, and deacon at Westside Baptist Church in Hinesville,           Georgia. He has also served as an elder/pastor at River Rock Church in Forest, Virginia. Brett has spent the last five years           preparing for church planting. For two and a half of those years he has worked closely with the pastor/planter of River Rock           Church, Marc Jantomaso and elder, John Swanson. He counts this as one of the greatest highlights of his preparation           for ministry.

Vision: Brett is what might be called a Great Commission thinker. He believes that Mark 16:15 and Matthew 28:18-20 are the           framework for the mission of the church today. He sees the importance of both reaching out to the lost with the gospel           (evangelism) and training Christians to develop in their relationship with Jesus Christ (discipleship). Brett recognizes that           Christianity is not simply a belief, but a lifestyle of obedience to Jesus Christ. This mindset led him to develop the vision           statement for Moneta Community Church: Glorify God. Serve Others. Make Disciples. Not only is this a church vision, it is           also his personal ministry vision and what he believes that he must pass on to others.

Brett also believes that for a church to be healthy it must reproduce. He says that if a church has caught the vision for           discipleship—reaching and teaching—and is teaching obedience to Christ in every aspect of life, then it must equip future           church planters. He calls this a “sending church” and adds, “the goal of a ‘sending church’ is to plant ‘sending churches.’”           To aid this process, Brett has cast the vision for training and sending out church planters to start two new churches every           two years. “If we do our job well,” he says, “our impact will be beyond calculation.” He is quick to add that the church is           simply called to labor, but that God is in control of the results.
